Lunch Buffet @ Suki-ya, Tokyo Street, Pavilion KL

Suki-ya is an all-you-can-eat sukiyaki restaurant that is located on the highest floor at Tokyo Street, right beside Daiso. It is a halal restaurant so they only serve chicken, lamb and beef slice. There is a Healthy bar for us to pick vegetables for our sukiyaki as well as udon and ramen. Before we start our sukiyaki, we were given a choice to choose our soup base which are the shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, and kimchi. From the start, the waiters will serve 2 servings of each meat slices and when it's finished, you can order for more from the waiters.

The sukiyaki pot. It is divided into 2 sides which allow us to choose 2 different soup to try. We chose the shabu-shabu soup base (right) and the sukiyaki soup base (left). The shabu-shabu soup base is a clear chicken soup where else the sukiyaki soup base has a sweet and sour taste.

The Healthy bar. It has assorted vegetables and at the side, there are eggs for the sukiyaki and salad dressings.

The meat slices. The slices are thin enough so that we can just 'swish swish' the meat in the boiling soup for it to cook.

The ice-cream bar. There are 2 types of flavour which are the chocolate and the japanese rice flavour. At the side are the toppings you could put into your ice-cream.

Overall, it was a great experience and the service and the quality of the food are satisfactory.

Lunch Buffet @ Gonbei San, Starhill Gallery, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Our 1st time visit to Gonbei San! If you want to compare, Gonbei San specialized on Japanese dishes, thus the sashimi, sushi, sukiyaki, udon, soba, tempura, mochi and etc are well-prepared. There are no other dishes like pasta or dim sum in other fusion buffet such as Jogoya/Tenji/Tao. All of them taste awesome like, one of my friend commented that the oyster is fresher than other buffet restaurant and we really liked the SukiYaki at Gonbei San because the soup is packed with flavor and not too salty or sweet. The usual price of Gonbei San buffet is RM88++, but we got a chance to try them at a cheaper price with Groupon at RM50 only.

Gonbei San has 4 main section - 1st is the Fry Food section (Tempura), 2nd is the Dessert Section (Mochi, Tarts, Cakes), 3rd - Sushi and Sashimi Section (Salads, Sushi, Sashimi, Udon, Sukiyaki, Soba, Chawanmushi, Oyster), 4th is the Teppanyaki Section (Prepared Food [Fried rice and etc], Teppanyaki Cod/Salmon/Unagi/Chicken)

Fresh Sashimi !!! They tasted real GOOD! =9

 Dishes @ the salad section

As for drinks, they only serve Green Tea and Orange Juice

Pork Ribs @ Chicago Ribs House, 1Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya

The 2nd branch of Chicago Ribs House has finally opened in 1Utama, Petaling Jaya. There's another branch located in Penang. The dining area and concepts are quite similar to Tony Roma's and Chili's, they serve pastas, appetizers, burgers, pizzas, and ribs. The only different thing about this restaurant is that they mainly serves non-halal western food. They are currently having promotion for their famous pork ribs where you can get 50% off on 2nd order of the pork ribs (Full-rack, Original Flavor only) until end of November.

Classic Mojito @ RM3 (NP: RM25.90)
Rum with minty and lime taste

Honey Garlic Flavored Pork Ribs Full Rack @ RM53.90
Sweet taste from the honey sauce, the meat is quite tender compared to the original flavor, probably is from different part of the pork. You get to choose 2 side dishes for each order. Their mashed potatoes tasted quite good! The veggies are fresh too! :)

Original Flavor Pork Ribs (Full Rack) @ RM26.95, after 50% off
The meat is not as tender compared to the 1st order but the rib is bigger compared to the previous order and they are very generous with the french fries, almost couldn't finish them. The sauce tasted like bbq flavor, more salty taste.

Overall, we are quite satisfied with their food portion and taste. A part from that, the services crews are friendly and polite, we had a good lunch experience with Chicago Ribs House today and we'll visit them next time to try out other dishes :)

Oyaki @ The Loaf, Tokyo Street, Pavilion KL

Tasty Oyaki are now available in The Loaf, Tokyo Street, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Oyaki is a Japanese bun/dumpling stuffed with meat/paste/vegetables. You can choose from 12 different flavors to try and they're not very pricey, each of them is priced at RM2.90, they currently offering 6 oyaki for the price of 5. The bun is soft and chewy stuffed with different type of fillings. I love the Chicken mushroom the most as it taste like Carbonara with its creamy mushroom and chicken bites inside the bun. If you're lepak-ing around Pavilion, you try out the Oyaki. :)

Dim Sum @ Dragon One, SS2, Petaling Jaya

A small dim sum restaurant located at SS2, nearby the SS2 Murni Mamak. Nice comfy place for people to chit-chat while enjoying some dim sum.

Steamed Prawn Dumpling with Spinach @ RM4.80
Not bad. The skin is a bit too thick and rough but the juicy filling is quite big in portion and they are not stingy in giving big prawns.

Steamed ShangHainese Meat Dumpling with Superior Soup @ RM6.00
Better than I expected. The skin is thick enough so that we will not break it when holding it with chopsticks and the meat inside is not dry at all. There are plenty of superior soup inside the dumpling for you to enjoy sucking it out before eating the whole dumpling.

Hot and Spicy Sauce La Miam @ RM7.20
Kinda like a Szechuan style noodle soup. It is not really spicy but it is quite sour in taste. Probably because of the veggies and vinegar. A lot of mushrooms and prawns and the noodles are quite tangy and enjoyable to eat.

Deep-fried Prawn Roll with Orange Sauce @ RM5.00
Nice in presentation, interesting in taste. One might think that orange sauce is a bit peculiar but it is actually quite a good combination with the deep-fried roll. It has a sweet and sour taste with a slight tangy flavour of the orange. The Prawn roll's filling is quite big portion and juicy while the exterior of the foll is really crispy.

Baked Prawn Dumpling with Cheese @ RM5.50
Quite disappointed with this item. The cheese sauce overpowered the whole dish. It made the dumplings soggy and difficult to eat and we couldn't taste the flavour of the dumplings at all due to the strong flavour of the cheese sauce.

Lunch @ DucKing Restaurant, Jaya One, Jalan Universiti, Petaling Jaya

Another place that you can enjoy delicious roasted duck with an elegant and air-conditioned restaurant. This restaurant is famous for their duck. DucKing is a Chinese cuisine and it's non-halal. The place is suitable for family dinner where you can bring over your parents and relatives to enjoy the food here. Looking at their menu, they have offer various type of food in various type of cooking style. However, it's a bit pricey, so it's better to come with your parents if you're still a student and unemployed. For this visit, we purchased 2 deals from weBuy.com.my, each deal provide a Double Combination Rice or Noodle worth RM12.50 @ RM5.40 only! The portion of the food is the same as normal rate. It's a very good buy and the food taste awesome!

Roasted Pork + Roasted Duck with Rice
The roasted duck skin is quite crispy and not too salty like other roasted ducks. The duck meat is tender and easy to chew. The portion of the meal is just right enough for 1 person.

Soy Sauce Chicken + Roasted Duck with Dry Noodles
Soy Suace chicken is very tender and meaty. Wanted to to order Char Siew (BBQ Pork) but sold out already. The roasted duck here is similar to the one above, the only difference is this got less bones [more meat to eat x)].

Dinner @ Restoran Makanan Laut Lau Heong, Sentul Raya.

A nice chinese restaurant at Sentul that is always full house during peak hours. If you want to get a table, I advise you to go for an early dinner. A simple restaurant with tables set up from the parking space in front of the restaurant to the second floor of the restaurant.

Pork Knuckle
Nice juicy pork knuckle with crispy skin on the outside and tender meat on the inside. The only downside is that it has a lot of fats! But if you don't mind that, it's delicious. =D The sauce is quite interesting as it looks like curry sauce but it is actually tomato gravy that is sweet and sour and it complements the meat.

Siong Tong LaLa (Clam Soup)
Quite a spicy dish. However, the LaLa does not have that fishy smell at all and it is quite big portion. Not overcooked that left the meat of the LaLa quite plump and tender.

Curry Fish
Creamy and spicy curry soup. Rich in flavour. Quite generous with the fish meat and vegetables too. Goes well with white rice. =D

Sizzling Squids & Prawns
One of their popular dishes. The sauce is really flavourful and creamy in texture and it goes really well with the squids and prawns. The portion is quite big too and the seafood are cooked to perfection.

Well, overall the bill totaled up to RM121 including a vegetable dish that we didn't take. The price for each dish was quite reasonable and affordable.

Buffet Dinner @ Funky Villa, e@curve, Petaling Jaya

After reviewing the blog, we found out that we haven't blog anything on Thai Cuisine :O. There was a great Thai Buffet deal offered by Groupon last month(Groupon Malaysia | [50% Off] À la carte Buffet (Food + Drink) at Funky Villa for RM29 instead of RM57.90, e@Curve (Cineleisure). Pork-free), thus we decided to try Funky Villa's Thai Food. The restaurant is located in e@curve shopping complex, the setting of the restaurant was quite modern and stylish compared to those normal Thai Restaurant.

Lemongrass Juice

Chicken Wings
Deep-fried to perfection! The chicken wings were crispy and juicy. Taste extremely delightful :D

Spring Rolls
Crispy and not oily! Well prepared spring rolls.

Thai Otak-otak
Mild spiciness filled with seafood.

Tom Yum Fish
They are very generous with the fish fillets, the spiciness was just right.

SeaFood in Sweet Chili
Sweet and sour fried seafood! Prawns, squids and fish fillets, all of them are fresh and yummy. One of the best dishes among others.

Pineapple & Chicken Fried Rice
Thai famous fried rice cooked with chicken slices, raisins and pineapples. Topped with cashew nuts. Quite delicious.
Spicy Chicken Salad

Basil Leaf Chicken
Strong basil leaf taste

KangKung Chilies & Garlic
Not too spicy nor salty :)

Lunch @ Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie, Jalan Delima, Kuala Lumpur

So, we found another place that is perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and tea-time. Levain is located at Jalan Delima, nearby Noble House and Ka-Soh. Its exterior is something to be admired in which they had transform a big old double-storey house into a nice-looking bakery and restaurant. Apparently, it is always full-house during lunch hours so if you want to get a nice seat, it's advisable to come early before the lunch hour starts. The concept there is simple. You get a place, remember the table number, and order your food and give them your table number at the cashier and the food will be served to your table.

Creamy Mushroom Chicken Soup @ RM5.40
It's really delicious. Thick creamy texture with plenty of mushrooms and chicken inside.

Seafood Aglio Olio @ RM12.50
Served with 2 pieces of crispy bread. It has plenty of seafood in it and the pasta is cooked to perfection. A little drizzle of olive oil and some chilli peppers complements the whole dish perfectly. The portion is just right for one person. The only thing I was not satisfied with it is that while they gave plenty of fish meat and prawns, there are less squid in it.

Toasted Chicken Cutlet Sandwich @ Rm9.90
Crusty toast with big pieces of chicken cutlet in between. They had drizzled some sauce on the chicken cutlet which I suspect is teriyaki sauce and made the whole dish a little salty/sour. It's tasty but you might have a hard time eating it as a whole because it's quite a big portion. Can be shared between 2 person.

Macaroons @ 1-5 for RM3.60 each, 6-9 for for RM3.30 each, 10 & above for RM3.00 each
PISTACHE - , LIMONE-, JASMINE-, FRAISE (Strawberry)-
The macaroons were actually not too sweet as I imagined. The sweetness is just right and their variety of flavours is something to be amazed at. There are many types of macaroons that I had problem choosing them. However, it's sold out pretty fast so if you want to buy the flavours that you want, better be there early. I recommend trying the Jasmine flavour and the Limone flavour. Fraise flavour was not bad too but Pistache flavour has a bit of a weird taste but that is just my opinion. If you are feeling adventurous, try their Durian flavour!

Chocolate Baked Tart @ RM9.50
Delectable dessert. A sinful dessert where the whole dessert is coated with chocolate. Chocolate tart, chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache and cocoa powder. Truly a paradise for the chocoholics.

The Breads & Pastries
Unfortunately, we were too full to try out the breads and pastries. We will make a visit to Levain again, this time devoting ourselves to trying the mouthwatering breads and pastries.
